Students' comments from CyberJournals

This page is about me and what I put on it and make it look like tells about me in its own way. I think I'd like to add a background to make it more interesting and exciting because that's how I am. In my opinion, you wouldn't guess this from the look of my page right now because it's sort of boring and unoriginal. This is the one page I would improve on my web page if I had more time to work on it.  ~Emily B. 2005

Some of the steps I've taken to revise my webpage have been as far to re-write a whole essay. I did this just because I didn't like it, however I change a lot of my writing based on the feedback I hear from others. Especially one of my friends, she's a really good writer so I listen to what she has to say. I've also changed my colors on my webpage so many times I could scream. It's all ok though. I realize that changing things can only make it better. So they've all been good changes. I actually like to change things, it’s kind of cool to see what you had and then once you change it you see that what you had before was horrible and now it’s so much better. I would advise everyone to change something they’re working on, even the tiniest bit. You don’t have to go as far as to re-write a whole essay, but maybe all you need is a different color, or someone else’s opinion. Change is good. ~Amber S. 2005

I hope that an outsider would basically learn who I was from my website. I would hope that, from my index page, they could gather that I love to bike and play football. I hope they could also learn that I LOVE the Green Bay Packers and Lance Armstrong. I hope they would think that my index was cool and very attractive. Also, I would hope that, from my Vince Lombardi quote, they could learn what type of work ethic I have. I also would hope that if they went to my webfolio, and saw my writing, they would realize how good of a student I am. I would hope that they thought my writing was acceptable, and understandable. Last, I would hope they were pleased with the general appearance of the website and found it attractive but not too over-whelming. Maybe, they could see how much I had learned, and how much work I put into my webpage. Basically I just ask for approval and that they found joy in looking at what I have done. ~Matt A. 2005

I would change my home page because after seeing a few other people's home pages I realized that mine isn't very colorful, and it doesn't really catch a person's eye. I would also like to have my home page reflect more about who I am because to me that is really important. My home page should show others what type of person I am and to me, it just doesn't. ~Maghan K. 2005

I like my home page the best. I like it the best because that was the main page that every one sees and you can do almost anything you want with it. You can add a graphic background and a hit counter. You can also add other things like links for an about me page that tells about you and your hobbies and your favorite things I like it because I would like my webpage to be exciting and colorful with bright colors, not just plain and blasé and bright colors. ~Cody B. 2005

My webpage, just like everyone else's, kind of gives a suggestion as to what kind of people we are.  We learned how to add hyperlinks, add in different backgrounds and fonts and also how to add tables for a number of pictures.  This is another reason why I like my webpage.  I like the freedom to decorate.  We are allowed to choose colors and fonts which, in a way, show our diverse personalities. ~Jenni D. 2005

My favorite thing about the webpage that I have created is that it represents me.  I can express who I am better online, with pictures and writing, like we do in CyberEnglish.  For instance, I'm interested in military vehicles.  I can show this on my homepage, like I have, by posting a picture of military jets.  I can also show my interests on a page like "My favorite pictures"  or "My favorite links."  By doing this, people will see some of the things I like, and why.  I like that I'm able to do this, because sometimes in real life it might be hard to express what I feel, or different things about me.  Another thing I like about my webpage is that I'm free to do whatever I want with it.  If I don't feel like making it express my mood or view on life, then I can change it so it represents how my life is right now.  I could have pictures of my current favorite things, or cool things that I've done over the past.  Basically, you can customize your web page to whatever you like, and make it represent whatever you like.  It's your choice. ~Gareth J. 2005

In the beginning of the year, I knew absolutely nothing about making web pages. I didn’t even know of a program for webpage designing (Example: Microsoft FrontPage). Once I got all of the pages sorted out and the layouts accurate, I began to experiment with a few things. The more I played around with it, the more I learned. Some of the main things I learned are how to make a hyperlink successfully, how to make new pages, how to make marquees, and finally, how to make tables look good (centered, colorful, borders, etc.) Although I’ve accomplished a lot, there are a few things that I want to work on. I want to learn how to add sounds and I want to learn how to make those little trails that follow wherever the mouse goes (even though they are not allowed in CyberEnglish9). If I get the chance to work on my web page in the future I would want to publish new work from my sophomore, junior and senior years. It would be fun to make a few pages on comparing my writing now compared to what it would be like in 3 years. Also, I’m sure that my personal style will change somewhat and I would want to change my “About Me” page along with some of the color choice. Overall I think the whole webpage practice was a good experience. ~Vanessa B. 2005

My favorite thing about my website is how colorful and full of life it is. For example as soon as you come to my index page you see bright colors in my title. Every page in my website has new colors and a different layout. . I think that everybody's webpage will be different because everyone has their own sense of style and how they like to present themselves. Some people may not be very good at putting colors together or thinking of cool color schemes. I like the freedom to decorate. We are allowed to choose colors and fonts which, in a way, show our diverse personalities. Another thing I like about my web page is just knowing it's my own and I can make it have any look I want. I can also express my feelings and ideas and other people will see them. You can also put  any pictures that show who you are and what you like on your webpage which I think is pretty cool. ~Chantel A. 2006

My favorite thing about my webpage is my background for the index. It is my favorite because it is a graphic background and it came from a really neat site. I was going to choose a more tropical one but this one looked more interesting. I wanted to put pictures on my front page but it didn't go with the design and it looked kind of silly so I took them off. My second favorite thing about my webpage is my cyber journal because I have another graphic background and a red outline which is really cool to me. Segen G. 2006

There are many different ways to make something unique. If you look at every student’s webpage from our grade, you will never find one that looks the same. They may have different fonts, or different pictures, but the main difference is the color. The thing I like best about my webpage is its color. The colors on my webpage are colors that I really like. Working with color is something that I find fun. I like to experiment with putting different colors together. On my webpage, I experimented with different colors for the different parts of the page until I got them the way I liked them. These colors are a way that makes my webpage mine and different from everyone else’s…which is the way it should be. Sam H. 2006

It is easier for me to do my homework on the computer because I can type much faster than I can write. Also my handwriting is bad to me because sometimes I can't even read my own handwriting. Jordan W. 2006

I learned for using computers on my cyber journal is easier because I can type a lot faster than I can write. Another good thing is that this way I have spell check and it helps a lot so I don't spell anything wrong. Dave Y. 2006

I like my webpage because of many different things. I like it the most because it expresses a little bit about who I am, and tells something about the kind of person that  I am. I like my webpage because I can personalize it so it is mine, and mine alone, but is still able to be official, like showing your CyberJournals, and other assignments from other classes. I like the idea of having your own spot on the internet where you can post some of the work that you have done, and show it off to other people because you are proud of what you have done. This is the first time that I have ever made a website that is actually on the internet, and contains some of the work that I have done, and I enjoy doing it. I think that it gives us a sense of accomplishment to know that you created the website, posted the work that you did, and tell some stuff about yourself. We all did this on our own, and I will continue to add to my webpage to make the best it possibly can be. Justin W. 2006
