An ethical dilemma

In your group review the SPJ Ethics Code. Then, read the case study, a Congressman’s Past. Your group will then need to form a consensus view regarding your decision to publish the story or not. You need to have at least three reasons, based on the ethics code. When you’ve made your case, publish it in a comment to this page and be prepared to discuss it and defend it.

Finally, on your own, come up with a statement about why the ethics code is something you need to be aware of as a reporter for the Mirror. Be specific and not overly general in your statement. For example, don’t say “the ethics code is good to know because it will keep me ethical.” I want to know how understanding the ethics code will make you a better reporter. You can write this on a piece of paper.
