Romeo and Juliet
Semester Exam Study Guide
Documents you may bring with you to use for
the test:
- video guide
- study guide
- notes from web quest
(see below)
- notes about favorite
character
Things to do before the test:
- Review your web quest
regarding Shakespeare’s life
and take any notes you think may be important.
- Review the plot
summary of the entire play; think about what happens when and why it
happens
- Review the list of
Elizabethan words and their meanings
- Review the following
two passages from Romeo & Juliet:
- “O, she doth teach
the torches to burn bright!” through “As yonder lady o’er her fellows
shows.” This is when Romeo first sees Juliet at the Capulet’s masked
ball. (pg 624)
- “O, bid me leap,
rather than marry Paris,” through “To live
an unstained wife to my sweet love.” This is when Juliet is speaking to
the Friar about how to get out of her predicament. (pg 678)
- Think about who your favorite character
is. Why do you like that character in general? Also, decide what he/she does that you admire. Think of
something he/she says that you
think is important and decide why you think it’s important. Finally, write
about something this character should have done instead of what he/she did
do and be ready to explain why you think so.
